Crew Chief Confidential

Jim Oberhofer joined NHRA reporter Lewis Bloom via Skype in the Wally Parks NHRA Studio delivered by Papa John’s to talk about the Kalitta Motorsports team’s progress at the halfway point of the season.

Oberhofer is the Vice President of racing operations for Kalitta Motorsports and also the crew chief for Doug Kalitta’s Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster and Troy Coughlin Jr’s Sealmaster race car. Kalitta raced in just his second final round of the season at Norwalk, losing on a slight holeshot to Steve Torrence. Oberhofer also spoke about Shawn Langdon’s first-round loss to Terry McMillen along with the Funny Car teams’ testing efforts on Monday after the race.

As usual, Bloom also caught up with some of the winning crew chiefs of the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals, Bobby Lagana for Steve Torrence (assistant to Richard Hogan) and Dean Antonelli for Jack Beckman.

Finally Summit Motorsports Park co-owner Bill Bader Jr. talks about the unique ice cream scoop given to the winners of the event.
