The NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season completes the mini Western Swing this weekend at the Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge. In NHRA’s annual venture to California Wine Country, Justin Ashley and Shawn Langdon share the favorites role in Top Fuel, while Austin Prock, Dallas Glenn, and Gaige Herrera are also favored.

PlayNHRA, NHRA’s partnership with leading sports books and fantasy sports providers, has allowed fans to sign up for free and legally wager on national events and other outcomes in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, including this weekend’s event at Sonoma Raceway.

NHRA fans have the opportunity to engage in fantasy games, gaming, and betting for this event. Betting markets feature Professional classes, where fans can wager on event winners, low elapsed time of the event, head-to-head matchups, the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, and season champions.

Below are the opening odds as provided by Alt Sports Data.

(Note: In American sports betting, odds are typically expressed with a plus (+) or minus (–) symbol followed by a number. For example, +200 signifies the amount a bettor could win if wagering $100. If the bet works out, the player will receive a total payout of $300; $200 profit + $100 initial stake.)

TOP FUEL

Stewart
There is tremendous parity in the Top Fuel class right now, which helps explain why the top drivers in the class are separated by just a few percentage points. Ashley, a finalist in three of the last four events, is the favorite at +500, meaning a $10 bet would return $60.00. Ashley has plenty of company at the top of the standings as recent Seattle winner Shawn Langdon is also priced at +500, while Tony Stewart, winner of two events this season and the No. 2 driver in the points, is at +550, along with Doug Kalitta, who is also at +550.

Brittany Force, Antron Brown, and Clay Millican can each be had at odds between +600 and +700, further reinforcing the notion of parity in NHRA’s quickest and fastest category.

When it comes to long shots, there are several to choose from, including Josh Hart at +1,000 and Ida Zetterström, who can be had for a price of +1,700 should she produce a breakthrough performance. Finally, there is Ron August, who reached the semifinals of last year’s event. August represents a true long shot at +4,000, meaning a $10 bet would return a healthy $410.

FUNNY CAR

Prock

When it comes to parity, there is also plenty in Funny Car, although John Force Racing teammates Austin Prock and Jack Beckman remain the frontrunners in the class. Prock, who has four wins, is the favorite at +260, while Beckman, with wins in Pomona and Chicago, is a close second at +450.

With Prock and Beckman established as solid favorites, there is value in other entries, including Phoenix winner Paul Lee and Bob Tasca III, both at +1,000. Ron Capps, J.R. Todd, Matt Hagan, and Chad Green, who have each won a race this season, are all ranked at +1,100.

Spencer Hyde has lately become a threat to win his first event, and his opening price is +1,200, and the same can be said for Daniel Wilkerson at +1,400. Cruz Pedregon also represents a long shot at +2,000.

PRO STOCK

Anderson

Continuing a trend that has been in place for most of the season, KB Titan Racing teammates Greg Anderson and Dallas Glenn once again share the top spot in Pro Stock at +350. Anderson and Glenn have combined to win all but one event this season.

Norwalk winner Cory Reed is also lurking in the third spot with a solid price of +900, with Aaron Stanfield fractionally higher at +1,000. There are plenty of attractive options that can be had for double-digit odds, including Erica Enders at +1,100, Matt Hartford at +1,200, and up-and-coming rookie Cody Coughlin at +1,400, a price shared by Matt Latino and Deric Kramer.

Coming off a runner-up finish in Seattle, Jeg Coughlin Jr. is sure to raise a few eyebrows at +1,600, and the same goes for Greg Stanfield, who recently made some of the best runs of his career, indicating an upswing from the Elite Motorsports team. Stanfield’s opening odds are +2,200, meaning a $10 wager would net a very healthy $230.00 return.

There are 18 Pro Stock cars headed for Sonoma, which means qualifying will be of the utmost importance.

PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE

Herrera

Gaige Herrera continues to lead the way in Pro Stock Motorcycle, and as a result, he’s the only racer in the field with negative odds. Herrera is priced this week at -190, so it would take a $19 bet to win a $10 profit ($29.00 total).

Matt Smith, who has enjoyed tremendous success in Sonoma, including the current 205-mph speed record, comes off at +300, while Bristol winner Richard Gadson is +550.

Everyone else in the field is considered a long shot, including Angie Smith and John Hall at +2,000 and Chase Van Sant at +2,200. Jianna Evaristo was solidly in the 6.7s last week in Seattle, and her opening price is +4,000 as she competes at her home event.
