Long-time Albuquerque, N.M., racer Lyle Greenberg completed his Top Fuel licensing passes in the minimum three runs at The Strip At Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the Monday after the NHRA Nevada Nationals.

Greenberg drove the Paton Racing car, tuned by John Stewart, to a 3.98 at 242 mph on the mandatory early shutoff first run.

Greenberg then wheeled Todd and Tony Paton’s car to back-to-back 3.85 blasts, both well in excess of 300 mph.

Greenberg, who won the Nitro Pro Comp class at the March Meet in 2022, still plans to campaign his nostalgia-bodied Cone Hunter nitro Funny Car in Funny Car Chaos and selected other events in 2024, but he will also be trying to find the funding necessary to run one or two NHRA national events in Top Fuel.
