Pro Mod driver Mike Stavrinos claimed double Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series trophies at Firebird Motorsports Park this weekend when he won the 40th annual NHRA Arizona Nationals a day after winning the postponed Gainesville event.

Unofficial points standings following the completion of the NHRA Arizona Nationals, the second event of the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season. 

During the first round of Funny Car eliminations at the NHRA Arizona Nationals, Ron Capps suffered an explosion before the finish line. His car crossed the center line and struck the left guardwall before coming to a stop. Capps was alert and exited the car under his own power and was examined onsite by the NHRA Medical Team before being released.

Mike Stavrinos enjoyed a spectacular Saturday at a sold-out Firebird Motorsports Park, winning his first career Congruity NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series race, defeating Rickie Smith in the final round of the postponed NHRA Gatornationals and also qualifying No. 1 for this weekend’s Arizona Nationals in Phoenix.

For the third straight year, NHRA and officials at Firebird Motorsports Park announced a sellout crowd for Saturday qualifying at the NHRA Arizona Nationals.
