Wayne Brooks’ three-state odyssey to the Amalie Motor il NHRA Gatornationals to defend his 2025 Top Dragster race win there won him the Holley Never Rest award at the event.

Brooks and his team headed from north Georgia to Orlando Speed World for the Division 2 Lucas Oil Series event as a tune-up for the Gatornationals, but a fuel pump failure on his first pass resulted in two burned pistons. They drove home, pulled the engine, and drove it the next morning to PAR Racing Engines in South Carolina in hopes of a repair before the Gatornationals, but that couldn’t be accomplished in time.

They drove home and instead began preparing their bracket racing dragster, not even sure it could qualify for the Gatornationals Top Dragster field. Not only did he qualify, but he also went on to win two rounds in eliminations.
