TOP FUEL ROUND ONE

South Georgia fans experiencing nitro for the first time on Sunday got a perfect introduction in the first pair as Antron Brown took out Shawn Reed via a holeshot. Brown banked nearly three hundredths off the starting line and made it stick with a 3.746 to hold off Reed’s 3.727. Both drivers were over 330-mph, a fitting tribute to the NHRA and SGMP crews that worked hard to prep the track.

In perhaps the most anticipated match of the round, Tony Stewart flickered the top bulb on the tree, but Justin Ashley still managed a competitive .041 reaction time. Bot drivers lit the tires, and Ashley recovered more quickly to take the win with an off-pace 4.073 in his SCAG Power Equipment entry.

As she’s done all year, Top Fuel rookie Maddi Gordon endeared herself to the Georgia fans with the quickest run of her brief career, a 3.728 at 340.22, her second 340 run of the weekend. Will Smith was off the starting line first but couldn’t maintain the lead.

With no opponent in the opposite lane, Doug Kalitta and the Mac Tools team had the option to throw the kitchen sink at the SGMP surface but the numbers suggest they took a more conservative approach with a 3.732, a full five hundredths slower than their qualifying effort.

Shawn Langdon was vulnerable with a .105 reaction time and a tire-smoking 4.15, but he turned on the win light after Cameron Ferre’s car fell silent. Langdon will advance, but won’t have lane choice against Antron Brown.

Round two parings (lane choice first): Maddi Gordon vs. Justin Ashley; Antron Brown vs. Shawn Langdon; Billy Torrence vs. Clay Millican; Doug Kalitta vs. Leah Pruett.

FUNNY CAR ROUND ONE

A bit of an upset as Gainesville winner Chad Green took out the hottest driver in the class, Ron Capps, after Capps smoked the tires. Green ran a 3.925 in his Bond Coat entry to advance to the quarterfinals.

Alexis DeJoria has quickly adjusted to life as a member Force team with a round one win against Cruz Pedregon, who had the higher qualified car. DeJoria ran 3.946 to take the win light.

Daniel Wilkerson gave low qualifier J.R. Todd all he could handled but in the end, the low qualifier prevailed with a 3.944 in his DHL Supra. It win is what is commonly knowns as a two-for-one as Todd will have a bye run in round two.

Matt Hagan prevailed in a key match-up against Jack Beckman but his 3.988 was likely a bit disappointing. Hagan will surrender lane choice to Alexis DeJoria in round two.

Spencer Hyde got off the starting line first, and never trailed in his 3.978 to 4.101 win over Austin Prock, who continues to make progress, but is still seeking his first round win with Bob Tasca’s Motorcraft team.

Perhaps the most fascinating battle of the quarterfinals will feature Chad Green against his son, Hunter, who defeated Dave Richards with a 4.007. With 330-mph performances, Richards is no pushover, but his Bluebird Turf entry shook the tires loose early in the run.

Round two pairings (lane choice first): J.R. Todd vs. Bye; Alexis DeJoria vs. Matt Hagan; Jordan Vandergriff vs. Spencer Hyde; Chad Green vs. Hunter Green

PRO STOCK ROUND ONE

Pro Stock cars struggled to get a hold of the SGMP track surface on Saturday and that continued into Sunday as the first pair was decided by tire shake. Both Jeg Coughlin Jr. and Dallas Glenn knocked the tires loose early and Glenn was able to recover more quickly to win with an off-pace 7.039.

Tire shake also bit Charlotte winner Matt Hartford, allowing Deric Kramer and his Get Biofuel team to earn a win with a 6.568. Kramer was the No. 10 qualifier and did not have lane choice.

Kenny Delco was racing in Pro Stock before opponent Cody Anderson was born and that experience proved to be useful when both cars again rattled the tires. Delco pedaled to a 7.079 to pick up a key round win against a Rookie of the Year candidate.

The tire shake issue made for some dramatic moments as Brandon Miller seemed to be dead in the water against Cody Coughlin, but he managed to recover in time to score his first round win, and the first for a Dodge powered Dodge in quite some time. Miller ran 9.730 at just 142-mph, but turned on the win light from the No. 12 spot.

Greg Stanfield had no such issues with a 6.532 in his Elite Camaro to take care of business against Shane Tucker.

The craziness continued after Eric Latino fouled by six thousandths of a second, sending Troy Coughlin Jr. and his JEGS.com entry into the quarterfinals. Latino had been the No. 2 qualifier.

The final act of what has been a dramatic round was perhaps the most unexpected as Greg Anderson ran low E.T. of the round, but did not claim the win light as Matt Latino left first and won via a holeshot., 6.548 to 6.512 in a race decided by .008-second at the finish line.

In the final tally, seven of eight drivers in the bottom half of the field advanced, something that likely has never happened in a half century of Pro Stock racing.

Round two pairings (lane choice first): Greg Stanfield vs. Brandon Miller; Matt Latino vs. Dallas Glenn, Erica Enders vs. Kenny Delco; Deric Kramer vs. Troy Coughlin Jr.

PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE ROUND ONE

Chase Van Sant, coming off a solid finish in Charlotte, continued his recent uptick with a 6.883 in his win against Marc Ingwersen, who slowed to a 7.088.

Angie Smith rolled to a win against Brayden Davis with a competitive 6.773 run on her Denso Buell after Davis slowed.

Jianna Evaristo left first against Kelly Clontz by five hundredths, but her bike bogged just off the starting line. Just when the result appeared to favor Clontz, her Suzuki fell silent and Evaristo was able to ride by for a narrow 7.091 to 7.079 holeshot victory.

Rock steady Clayton Howey hit the Tree with a .022 light and followed with a 6.775 to take care of business against Ryan Oehler, who ran 6.806.

Richard Gadson earned lane choice for his tough quarterfinal battle against Clayton Howey with a 6.759 in his win over 2003 world champ Geno Scali.

Gaige Herrera made the best pass of the round with a 6.707 in his win against Charles Poskey, who threw a scare into the two-time world champ with a .014 to .075 light.

Round two pairings (lane choice first): Angie Smith vs. John Hall; Richard Gadson vs. Clayton Howey; Gaige Herrera vs. Jianna Evaristo; Chase Van Sant vs. Matt Smith.

TOP FUEL ROUND TWO

Shawn Langdon gave up two hundredths on the starting line against Antron Brown, but quicky recovered to take the win with a 3.812, a conservative run considering the conditions. Brown smoked the tires before the 60-foot clocks, coasting to a 13-second E.T.

A genuine side-by-side pedalfest followed with Clay Millican making his way to the semis after a win over Billy Torrence, 5.02 to 7.13. Millican came into the SGMP event ranked No. 10 in the Mission Foods standings, but has already helped his cause immensely.

Justin Ashley didn’t get down the track in qualifying, and he has yet to run in the threes during eliminations, but the SCAG team is still alive after a 4.03 win over Maddi Gordon, who did her part by leaving within .01-second of the class overwhelming reaction time leader.

Leah Pruett’s team went back to the air deflectors for their quarterfinal run against Doug Kalitta but the Mac Tools team had too much race car with 3.798 to 3.864 win.

Semifinal pairings (lane choice first): Shawn Langdon vs. Clay Millican; Doug Kalitta vs. Justin Ashley

FUNNY CAR ROUND TWO

Hunter Green got the best of his father, Chad, in a spirited father-son battle. Hunter grabbed .01-second off the starting line and ran 4.076 to turn on the win light after Chad’s Bond Coat Ford got loose at half track. It was the first round win of the season for Green, who has raced in Gainesville and Charlotte.

Jordan Vandergriff seems destined to become NHRA’s next first-time pro winner, and it could happen this weekend after his 3.956 win over Spencer Hyde. Vandergriff came into SGMP as the No. 5 ranked driver in the class.

After Matt Hagan smoked the tires, it guaranteed a new 2026 winner as Alexis DeJoria went to the semifinal round with a 4.016. In the semifinals, DeJoria will race J.R. Todd, who benefited from a quarterfinal bye run and earned lane choice with a 3.972.

Semifinal pairings (lane choice first): Jordan Vandergriff vs. Hunter Green; J.R. Todd vs. Alexis DeJoria

PRO STOCK ROUND TWO

The first round of Pro Stock was so odd it almost defied description and the quarterfinals wasn’t much different as No. 15 qualifier Troy Coughlin Jr. moved into the semis with a 6.632 after Deric Kramer baskeballed ther tires just off the starting line.

Erica Enders managed only a 7.01 in her quarterfinal race against Kenny Delco, but that was enough as the 1990 Gainesville winner became the latest victim of tire shake. In the semi’s, Enders will take on Troy Coughlin Jr. in a race between the No. 14 and No. 15 qualifiers.

The race between Dallas Glenn and Matt Latino was a bit more straightforward as both cars crossed the finish line under power. Glenn won via a holeshot, 6.587 to 6.562.

Semifinal pairings (lane choice first): Troy Coughlin Jr. vs. Erica Enders; Dallas Glenn vs. Greg Stanfield.

PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE ROUND TWO

Angie Smith made one of her best runs of the event with a 6.749 to trailer her MSR teammate, John Hall, who ran 6.804.

Angie’s run was impressive, at least until the next pair where her husband, Matt, unloaded the quickest run of the event, a 6.685 at 203.05 mph to easily outdistance Chase Van Sant.

Clayton Howey went red by .005-second which allowed Richard Gadson to go to the semifinals with a 6.770 on his Vance & Hines Suzuki. Gadson will race against his teammate, Gaige Herrera, who topped Jianna Evaristo in the last race of the round, 6.775 to 6.847. Gadson has lane choice.

Semifinal pairings (lane choice first): Matt Smith vs. Angie Smith; Gaige Herrera vs. Richard Gadson

TOP FUEL SEMIFINALS

It certainly wasn’t his best run of the event, but Shawn Langdon’s 3.898 was enough to get the job done after Clay Millican smoked the tires. Langdon has already got a win and a runner-up this year and he’s not sitting on 11 round wins just five races into the season.

It will be an all-Kalitta Motorsports final after Doug Kalitta out-pedaled Justin Ashley in the other half of the semi’s. Reaction times did not come into play as Kalitta’s 5.19 topped Ashley’s 5.45 as both drivers hit the throttle multiple times just to get to the finish line.

FUNNY CAR SEMIFINALS

J.R. Todd will join his Kalitta teammates in the final round after a tire-smoking win against Alexis DeJoria, who collected a couple timing blocks in their semifinal match. Todd will race in the final after three semifinals to start the season.

Jordan Vanderrgiff will have another chance to win his first professional event (and first since 2019) when he takes on Todd in the final round. Vandergriff will also benefit from lane choice after a 3.964 to beat Hunter Green, who lit the tires.

PRO STOCK SEMIFINALS

Troy Coughlin Jr., who has seemingly had the worst luck of any driver in the Pro Stock the last two seasons, got a bunch of it back as he’s going to the final round from the No. 15 qualifying spot. Coughlin drove the JEGS.com Camaro to the final for the 13th time as a pro after Erica Enders shook and shut off. Coughlin last won in Epping during the 2024 season.

Coughlin will have a decent shot at the victory as he’s got lane choice over opponent Dallas Glenn, who topped Greg Stanfield in yet another race that featured side-by-side tire shake. Glenn managed to win with an 8.121, and elapsed time that would not have been competitive in Pro Stock since the early 1970s. Glenn is going to the final for the 43rd time in his career, which spans just 96 races.

PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE SEMIFINALS

Richard Gadson continues to impress in his title defense as he put away his teammate, Gaige Herrera, 6.756 to 6.783.  Gadson also had the best reaction time with a .028 light. Gadson will almost certainly need another solid light in the final as he faces a bit of a performance deficit against Matt Smith, who ran 6.729 in his win over wife, Angie.
