Winning two races in a month is almost always enough for any racer to receive consideration for the Peak Performance Sportsman Racer of the Month award, but when one of those wins is highlighted with an ultra-rare perfect run, it becomes nearly automatic. That is certainly the case for Super Gas racer Mike Wiblishouser, who enjoyed one of the best months of his career in April.

Wiblishouser made headlines when he won the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals and put together a perfect .000/9.900 package in the final round against Val Torres. Wiblishouser overcame a few challenges during the weekend but held on to win one of the coveted 75th anniversary NHRA diamond Wallys.

A week later, Wiblishouser ventured to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Division 7 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series doubleheader and claimed a second straight victory. This time, he defeated Greg Ventura to win his 13th consecutive round. With approximately one-quarter of the 2026 season complete, Wiblishouser is currently sitting No. 3 in the Super Gas standings and appears poised for a title run.

Honorable Mentions

Several racers reached two final rounds last month, including Nicholas Brener, who claimed a win and a runner-up in Right Trailers Top Dragster at the Southeast Division doubleheader at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP).

Monty Bogan, a past Racer of the Month winner, also went to a pair of finals rounds in Comp eliminator with a win at the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals in Charlotte and a runner-up at the SGMP divisional.

Lauren Freer turned on the win light in the Super Comp final in Charlotte and then ventured south to Adel, Ga., a week later and drove to a runner-up finish against Sherman Adcock Jr.

Keith Mayers, who just missed the championship in Super Gas two years ago, is off to another hot start this season. He had a memorable month with a win in Super Street in Charlotte and a runner-up in Super Gas.

Finally, there was Dan Fletcher, who just missed a double in Adel with a victory in Super Stock (his 110th) and a runner-up in Stock.
