Jeff Taylor would easily qualify as the sportsman racer of the month or perhaps even the sportsman racer of the century, but following his double win in Comp Eliminator at the Division 4 Lucas Oil Series opener in Dallas, he’s been named the PEAK Performance Sportsman Racer of the Month for May.

Taylor, the reigning Comp champ and a five-time champ overall, ran the table at the Texas Motorplex with his A/Econo Dragster, sweeping both events. Racing against some of the toughest competition in the category, Taylor reeled off ten straight round wins during the weekend, defeating fellow world champ Christopher Dodd in the first final and finishing the rout with a win against Brian Willson on Sunday.

The Dallas double header represents the first two races in Taylor’s latest title defense so even with a perfect score, he’s barely cracking the Top 20, but with plenty of opportunities left in which to earn points, he’s likely going to contend for another title this season.

Honorable Mentions

Parker Theobald won the Stock title at the Division 6 event at Firebird Raceway in Boise and that has given him the lead in the Stock Eliminator standings as the calendar turns to June.

Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. continues to make the most of his chances in Super Stock and Stock. The two-time world champ drove to a pair of runner-up finishes, one in each class, at the Division 4 Lucas Oil Series event at the Texas Motorplex.

The latest generation of the Emmons family continues to make their mark on the South Central Division as Will Emmons drove to a win and a semifinal in Stock at the Div. 4 event in Dallas, and as a result, he’s currently ranked in the Top 20 despite just four appearances.

Rylie Trumble matched Emmons also with a win and a semifinal at the same event in Dallas. Trumble has also raced in just four events, and would be an early candidate for a Top 10 finish.

After a slow start, J.R. Baxter is hovering near a Top 10 spot in Right Trailers Top Dragster following the Dallas double where he finished with a win and a semifinal.
