Schonberger, Santangelo, Rowe lead Richmond Sportsman winner's list

In addition to the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series winners at the American Rebel Light Virginia NHRA Nationals, six drivers claimed Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series victories at Virginia Motorsports Park, including first-time Comp winner Jay Schonberger.

In addition to the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series winners at the American Rebel Light Virginia NHRA Nationals, six drivers claimed Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series victories at Virginia Motorsports Park.

There was a first-time winner in Comp as Jay Schonberger drove his ex-Warren Johnson Oldsmobile to a final round win against Mark Moreland. Schonberger highlighted the win with a .006 reaction time in the final. [video]

Joe Santangelo bagged his 23rd career national event win and his second in Richmond when he stopped Bryan Worner in the Super Stock final. Santangelo won on a double-breakout, thanks in large part to a .007 light. [video]

After multiple final-round appearances and an eighth-place finish in last season’s points battle, Steve Foley finally closed the deal in Stock with a win over Greg Rowe, who fouled.  [video]

Corey Manuel collected his second national event title in Super Comp following a narrow red-light start by Lauren Freer. Manuel’s worst light of eliminations was a .019. [video]

Appearing in his second career Super Gas final, J.J. Brock secured his first win with a solid run that included a .014 light and a 9.913 after opponent Ricky Hall broke out by .028-second. [video]

In order to win his first national event in Right Trailers Top Dragster, Tommy Muller has to get past two-time world champion Anthony Bertozzi, and he did so with a .012 light and a 7.053 on his 7.05 dial. [video]
