The October issue of NHRA National Dragster, capturing the action and intensity of the first three races of the Countdown to the Championship, is now online in digital format and in the mail in its traditional print format to NHRA Members around the world.

The issue contains burnout to turnout coverage of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events in Reading, Charlotte, and St. Louis, which has brought us to the halfway point of the Countdown playoffs. There’s already been a ton of drama — wild crashes, exploding Funny Cars, huge upsets, and lead changes — and you can read all about it and relive some of the key moments in embedded and linked videos.

The emotional Top Fuel win in Reading by Shawn Reed is not only captured on the cover but memorialized by ND Editor Phil Burgess in his “Launch Pad” column, while Brian Lohnes’ “Unsolicited Opinion” column takes a deep dive into the points battle raging in the Mission Foods Series.

Multitime world champion Luke Bogacki, meanwhile, focuses on the exciting and tight battles for NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series championships in his latest edition of “The Science of Winning.”

Leah Pruett, who will be returning to the Top Fuel wars next season, shared her thoughts about not only a return but racing against her husband, Tony Stewart, in this issue’s “Five Minutes With …” interview.

National Dragster’s September Sportsman Racer of the Month is also revealed in this action-packed issue, which also features a wide variety of racing away from the national event scene, including important Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional events, NHRA Summit Racing Series E.T. Finals, and NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series.

Jr. drag racing for the season may be mostly complete, but there’s still plenty to talk about, including a trio of brothers who are racking up wins and a young female prodigy on the rise.

Our "Racing Technology" column offers you some more insightful and educational material with a look at 10 things you need to know about protecting your tow rig’s diesel engine, a topic that’s sure to be near and dear to the hearts of many racers.
