Factory X qualifying update from NHRA Reading Nationals Maple Grove Raceway
Holley EFI NHRA Factory X is the newest professional-style eliminator introduced by the NHRA to showcase modern American performance cars in a heads-up, factory-inspired format. Created to bridge the gap between Sportsman-style competition and full-fledged Pro Stock, Factory X combines the aesthetics of production-based muscle cars with cutting-edge race car technology, offering fans the look of showroom machines with the performance of a pro-level category.
Cars in Factory X must use late-model, factory-style body shells such as the Chevrolet COPO Camaro, Ford Mustang Cobra Jet, and Dodge Challenger Drag Pak. Under the hood, they run supercharged Facotry Stock Showdown-based, fuel-injected engines up to 350 cubic inches, producing more than 1,500 horsepower. The cars are built on purpose-built, lightweight tube chassis and must weigh a minimum of 2,650 pounds—roughly 1,000 pounds lighter than a traditional Factory Stock Showdown car—giving them a staggering power-to-weight ratio.
Launched as a showcase class in 2023, Factory X represents the next evolution of factory hot rods, delivering 6.50-second quarter-mile runs at over 200 mph. The class highlights Detroit’s modern muscle machines and gives fans a clear visual connection to the street cars they love, while giving racers a cutting-edge platform to push technology and performance forward.
The third qualifying session for Factory X from NHRA Reading Nationals Maple Grove Raceway featured quick, clean side-by-side runs as the class continues to showcase its consistency during the third-to-last Factory X race of 2025.
