The NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series concludes the two-race Western Swing with a stop at Sonoma Raceway for the Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge. Here's all the info you need to follow along in our Saturday preview.

The event is No. 12 of 20 races this year in the NHRA Mission Foods Pro series, and it will include Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle, along with the GETTRX NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle All-Star NHRA Callout, as well as five NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series classes.

On Friday, the record books took a pounding, especially in Top Fuel where Brittany Force electrified the huge crowd with a record 343.16 mph run in her Monster Energy dragster. Force also qualified in the No. 1 spot with a Sonoma Raceway track record of 3.645-second run.  

Greg Anderson also reset the track record on Friday in Pro Stock with a 6.472 run in his HendrickCars.com Camaro. The Pro Stock field is impressive with the top eight drivers qualified at 6.514-seconds or quicker.

In Funny Car, recent Seattle winner Matt Hagan leads the way with a 3.861 in his Dodge/Direction Connection Charger. Hagan is just a few thousandths ahead of Spencer Hyde, who is second at 3.865 seconds in Jim Head’s Mustang. 

In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Richard Gadson is the provisional low qualifier with a 6.702 ahead of Matt Smith’s 6.740.  The Pro Stock Motorcycle category will take center stage today with the GETTRX All-Star Pro Stock Callout, a special $25,000 to win event reserved for the top eight riders based on yearlong qualifying results. The Callouts were made yesterday and the pairings will include Gaige Herrera vs. Chris Bostick, Matt Smith vs. Chase Van Sant, Richard Gadson vs. Jianna Evaristo, and Angie Smith vs. John Hall.

Saturday’s highlights will also include the latest round of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge of the season, which will pit the semifinal finishers from the recent Seattle event in a race for bonus cash and additional points. These rounds are run concurrently with Saturday qualifying.

The jam-packed schedule will also include eliminations for racers in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series categories of Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, and Top Sportsman.
