Points scoring changes announced for NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series

NHRA has made some adjustments to how drivers in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series can earn points towards a world championship.

NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series

Drivers competing in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will earn championship points at each of the 10 NHRA national events at which they compete. The points will be accumulated throughout the year, and an annual champion will be crowned in the series at the conclusion of the season.

Contestants in Pro Mod compete to secure the championship starting in Gainesville and concluding in Dallas. Event points will be awarded as follows:

Additional points are awarded as follows:
10 points to all contestants (15 in Dallas) — one qualifying attempt required.

Performance bonus points are awarded based on the average e.t. at the conclusion qualifying as follows:

  • Performance bonus points WILL NOT be awarded if there are no qualifying sessions available. 
  • All e.t.s count towards the average qualifying e.t. when the vehicle crosses the finish line. 
  • Stage without finishing the run equals 28 seconds for the qualifying session.
  • Did not make a qualifying attempt the run equals 32 seconds for the qualifying session.
  • Vehicle crosses the centerline the run equals a 32-second entry for the qualifying session. 
  • Your competitor’s centerline violation affects your e.t. (timing cone knocked out), the run equals a 0 e.t. and does not count towards the average.

Qualifying points WILL NOT be awarded at events where the entire 16-car field is determined by points standings.
