In addition to the Camping World Drag Racing Series action taking place at World Wide Technology Raceway, six champions were also crowned in Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competition at the NHRA Midwest Nationals.

The third time was the charm for Adam Hickey, a past U.S. Nationals and SPORTSnationals Comp runner-up, as he collected his first career national event win, and it will be one he won’t forget. His opponent was supposed to be Australian national champion Jason Grima, but Grima crashed heavily on his semifinal bye run and couldn’t make the call. [video]

Marion Stephenson is now a six-time NHRA national event winner after topping Tyler Wudarczyk in the Super Stock final. Stephenson cruised to the win after Wudarczyk slowed. The race was a rematch of the 2018 Topeka final, won by Wudarczyk. [video]

Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. won his ninth national event and sixth in Stock after Chris Knudsen red-lighted by .001-second in the final round. Hidalgo has now moved to No. 3 in the battle for the Stock national championship. [video]

Junior Houston, the Top Dragster runner-up three years ago at the Virginia national event, went the distance on his second try, defeating former Super Gas world champ and last year’s Super Gas winner, Jeremy Mason, by .008-second in the Super Comp final thanks to a near-perfect 8.907 pass. [video]

Rob Kropfeld was a brilliant .005 on the Tree in the Super Gas final with his ’67 Camaro, forcing opponent Patrick Debottis into a 9.892 breakout. The victory was Kropfeld’s third but his first in more than five years and boosted his final-round record to a perfect 3-0. [video]

Former Top Sportsman world champ Darian Boesch bagged his latest win in Top Dragster presented by Vortech Superchargers when he topped Ed Dudley in the final. After an even start, Boesch won with a 6.234 on his 6.18 dial. [video]
