In addition to the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series action at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, 10 Lucas Oil Series winners were also crowned in competition at the Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals.

Julie Nataas won’t soon forget her Indy 2022 weekend. In winning the JEGS Allstars Top Alcohol Dragster crown Saturday night, her OTG dragster shed all of its body panels in the lights. The Randy Meyer Racing team drove a new body from Kansas overnight to allow her to continue eliminations, which led to a dominating performance as the No. 1 qualifier capped her Labor Day weekend with a double celebration after a 5.23 to 5.34 victory over Mike Coughlin for her second win of the year and her first at the Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals. Reigning Top Alcohol Funny Car world champ Sean Bellemeur won the Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals for the second time, racing his Steve Boggs-tuned Bartone Brothers Camaro to a 5.46 to defeat D.J. Cox Jr., as he did earlier this season in Charlotte for the Killer Bs’ first 2022 win. Bellemeur’s other Indy win came in 2018, the year that he won his first of three season championships. [video]

After breaking a 14-year victory drought earlier this season in Topeka, Doug Engels added a second U.S. Nationals Comp trophy to his shelf to sit alongside his 2008 silverware. Engels, the No. 1 qualifier, made it through five rounds losing only .03-second to the Competition Index Control, then smashed out a (-.58) 7.38 in the final to defeat the (-.53) 7.41 of three-time world champ and 2019 Indy winner Frank Aragona Jr. [video]

Pete D’Agnolo ran his record in NHRA national event finals to a perfect 5-0 when he won the Indy Super Stock final over James Caro. D’Agnolo, the winner in Gainesville earlier this season, drove his Camaro to a 9.639 on his 9.64 dial to win the double-breakout final. [video]

Less than a year after winning his first national event title in Bristol, Brett Candies score again at Indy following a double-breakout Stock final against Jim Marshall. Candies got to celebrate at the same track where his late father, Paul, earned the 1976 Top Fuel title with driver Richard Tharp. [video]

Austin Williams bagged his second Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals crown, backing up his 2019 tock triumph with a win this time in Super Comp. The Lone Star State superstar beat five-time national event Super Gas winner Jason Kenny in the final with an 8.91 after Kenny took too much stripe and broke out with an 8.891 after a brilliant .002-second reaction time. Versatile Bo Butner added another trophy to his championship mantel as the former Pro Stock and Comp world champion won his first Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals title with his second career Super Gas win. Butner, who also has national event wins in Pro Stock, Comp, Super Stock, and Super Street, defeated fellow Hoosier and past SPORTSnationals champ Steve Hoyt for the title. [video]

Douglas Wood made his second NHRA national event victory a big one, winning a tight Super Street final round over Ryan Locke. Wood, the 2017 Atlanta Super Street champ, took the stripe by just .002-second over Locke as both drivers had great reaction times and ran close to the 10.90 class index. [video]

The Top Dragster presented by Vortech Superchargers class has been contested at the Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals just four times and Rusty Baxter has won two of them. Baxter, the 2019 Indy champ, scored again by running a 6.172 on his 6.13 dial to defeat Dane Ward in the final round. [video

Vince Hoda scored the biggest win of his career at the Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals when he stopped Craig Liles in the final of Top Sportsman presented by Vortech Superchargers. Hoda powered to a 6.63 against his 6.70 dial after Liles fouled. [video]
