The Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals, the final NHRA national event at historic Atlanta Dragway, will pay tribute to the rich history of the Pro Stock class thanks to the Southeast Nostalgia Pro Stock Association. The North Carolina-based association will have a strong presence at Atlanta Dragway both on and off the track with exhibition runs and a static pit area display.

Making exhibition runs during the event will be Jeff Rudisill in the Orndorff and Eckman '86 Camaro, Mark Johnson behind the wheel of an original Bob Glidden '88 Thunderbird, Eddie Hall in the Eddie Ratliff Dodge Demon, Rocky Platt in the Houston Platt Dixie Twister ’65 Chevy Nova, Allen Platt in the Georgia Shaker ’64 Comet tribute car, and Ed Eichelberger, who drives the iconic “Grumpy's Toy” '68 Camaro made famous by Pro Stock pioneer Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins.

The Southeast Nostalgia Pro Stock Association helped kick off the 2021 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in March with a similar exhibition and display that proved to be a popular addition to the event.

All six racers are scheduled to make one run each on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, during the Atlanta event, which first appeared on the NHRA schedule in 1981, and has a rich history of Pro Stock competition.

In addition to the on-track action, there will also be a display in the pit area featuring other vintage Pro Stock entries, including the Atlanta-based ’72 Plymouth Duster of Reid Whisnant’s, now owned by McGrath Keen, as well as Hubert Platt’s Georgia Shaker ’70 Maverick, now owned by Elliot Sande, and Billy “the Kid” Stepp’s Dodge Demon, owned by Mike Whitaker.
