Multi-event NHRA race winner Blake Alexander is embarking on a new chapter at the NHRA’s most prestigious event, the Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals. Alexander, a four-time NHRA national event winner, will debut his own Funny Car team at Blake Alexander Racing behind the wheel of the Pronto Auto Parts Funny Car at the 72nd running of NHRA’s marquee event.

Alexander, one of just 19 drivers to have won NHRA national events in both nitro categories, seized the opportunity to add team owner and crew chief to his resume recently arose. The North Carolina racer purchased a Precision Built Race Cars (PBRC) chassis from Kalitta Motorsports and will operate out of a shop in Pittsboro, Ind., approximately nine miles from the famed Clermont, Ind., dragstrip.

This is a special moment for Alexander’s family

”I have the typewritten letter my grandfather got from NHRA to compete in the 1961 US Nationals in his new C/A hemi ’34 Coupe,” he said. “Launching this new Hemi FC venture where my grandad raced 65 years ago and started the progression to achieve this dream is still hard to take in.

“I’m super excited to see what we can achieve. We have a PBRC chassis, and they’ve proven to be some of the best chassis in drag racing. We have obtained the best of everything with the help of Ron Douglas and the Indy racing community.  The last third of this season will give us ample opportunity to develop a winning combination heading into 2027.”

Alexander will tune the car with the help of co-crew chief Scott Seising, who has been part of Blake’s success dating back to his dream season with two Top Fuel wins in 2018.  Scott and Nate Richardson have worked tirelessly since Seattle to make this dream possible.

“I want to thank Chad, Hunter and the Green family for embracing me and my family the past few seasons,” Alexander said. “We had a decent season last year, and I learned a lot from Dean and Joe advancing to the semifinals at Indy last year and the final round at Maple Grove Raceway during the Countdown to the Championship.

“’m ready for and excited to light the fuse on Friday for our first shakedown run at I.R.P. (Indianapolis Raceway Park).  While my grandad can’t be here this weekend due to his health, I know he will be watching on NHRA TV as we carry on the legacy started 65 years ago.

The Pronto Nitro Club in the team’s pitside hospitality area hosts patrons who sit just feet away from the Pronto Funny Car. Pronto has more than 90 distributors, more than 350 warehouses, and 75,000 installer locations.

Following the U.S. Nationals, Alexander will compete at three or more events during the final six races of the 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Series schedule.
