Arnold Motor Supply, a Midwest automotive parts store chain, has returned as the primary sponsor of Afton and Joe Swanson and their NHRA Top Dragster for the 2021 season. The Swansons will be competing at events on the NHRA, Midwest Drag Racing Series, and big-money bracket racing circuits, thanks to the support from Arnold Motor Supply.

“Having Arnold Motor Supply return for a third season is incredible, we feel so lucky to have such a great group supporting us,” said Afton. “2020 was a year of uncertainty for most, so to have Arnold’s extend their partnership with us for 2021 is especially meaningful.”

With COVID-19 canceling many NHRA races in 2020, it gave Afton and Joe the opportunity to expand into other types of events, particularly big-money bracket racing. They have added several of these events to their 2021 calendar, including the SFG 350 event in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and the Triple 7s Jackpot race in Eddyville, Iowa. The team will also make a stop on the Midwest Drag Racing Series tour, as well as NHRA races in the West Central division. In addition to new races, the Swansons will also be debuting a new race engine for the 2021 season.

“There are so many great events coming to Iowa and surrounding states this year. Running a variety of events will give us the perfect opportunity to represent Arnold’s across all aspects of drag racing,” said Afton.

Arnold Motor Supply based out of Spencer, Iowa, has more than 50 parts stores throughout Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Minnesota, and Illinois. Arnold Motor Supply has been in business for more than 90 years and is one of the most recognized brands in Iowa.

Afton and Joe Swanson are a husband-and-wife team from Denver, Iowa. Afton (29) and Joe (31) are first-generation racers forging their own path in the world of drag racing. Although they are one of the youngest teams in drag racing, they have already made a name for themselves in the Top Dragster class. In addition to drag racing, Afton and Joe are the founders of Swanson Hydro Graphics and Swanson Performance, both companies located in Denver, Iowa.

The team will kick off its 2021 season at the NHRA Division 3 event in St. Louis April 23–25.
