Racers in the E3 Spark Plugs Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service will contest a 12-event schedule in 2020 as originally planned but will now earn points towards the season championship at just nine of those 12 events. The scoring formula change was requested by the competitors for financial and logistical reasons and ultimately approved by NHRA.

Pro Mod racers will earn points beginning at their season-opening event July 18-19 at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis as well as at the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals in Denver, the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minn., the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals in Topeka, Kan., the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte, the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis, the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tenn., the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals in Dallas, and at the season-ending Dodge NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas.

Non-points earning Pro Mod competition will take place at the NHRA Southern Nationals in Atlanta, the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla., and at the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. Although points will not be available at these events, increased purses are being planned.

Additionally, with the exception of the July 18-19 Indianapolis event, Pro Mod racers will be afforded three qualifying passes instead of the previously scheduled two runs at any event where the entry list includes 30 or more cars as well as at the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals and Denso Spark Plugs NHRA U.S. Nationals. At events with three qualifying sessions, the first run will take place Friday and the final two on Saturday.

Pro Mod competitors will run at least one (1) qualifying session on Friday at each of the following events, but not limited to the events, in Topeka, Charlotte, Bristol, Dallas, and St. Louis.
