Jeg Coughlin Jr. remained the quickest driver in Pro Stock and earned another three points as he continued his incredible start to his final full-time season behind the wheel of his JEGS.com Chevy Camaro.

Coughlin put down a 6.567-second lap at 208.52-mph, outpacing his Elite Motorsports teammate Erica Enders by more than a hundredth of a second to put himself at the top of the field. The seven-time champion enters the NHRA Arizona Nationals following a perfect weekend at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com. He won the event and collected the maximum points available (130) for the first time in his career.

Then he made the best run to both 60-feet and through the quarter-mile. Coughlin was not the fastest car on the track (Enders was the only car to break the 209-mph mark), but he did make a strong pull to half-track.

"Winning the last race in Pomona gave us great momentum heading into the offseason," said Coughlin. "We made about 25 runs in Florida during the offseason to try to find the balance and fine-tune this thing and I gotta tell ya, running a .960 (to 60-feet) in the first qualifying session is pretty stellar."

He'll get a chance to lay down an even quicker lap in the second qualifying session, which you can watch live on NHRA.tv at 4:45 p.m. Mountain Time. NHRA racing will hit your television on FS1 at 9 p.m. Mountain Time.
