The biggest preseason test of the year is underway, but there are some big names noticeably absent: And most of them hail from Don Schumacher Racing. Leah Pritchett, Tony Schumacher, Jack Beckman, Ron Capps and Tommy Johnson Jr. will make their first laps at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals in February.

That doesn't mean it's a small field at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Phoenix by any means. Steve Torrence opened Thursday with a 3.689 pass and was followed immediately by runs from Brittany Force and Antron Brown. Here are the other participants you'll hear and see more from throughout our testing coverage.

  • Antron Brown
  • Richie Crampton
  • Brittany Force
  • John Force
  • Chad Green
  • Matt Hagan
  • Robert Hight
  • Doug Kalitta
  • Shawn Langdon
  • Jim Maroney
  • Scott Palmer
  • Cruz Pedregon
  • Jianna Salinas
  • Mike Salinas
  • Bob Tasca III
  • Billy Torrence
  • Steve Torrence
  • Jordan Vandergriff Jr.
  • Tim Wilkerson

You'll see new bodies from Tasca and Pedregon (Ford Mustang and Dodge Charger//SRT Hellcat) and you might see a new Toyota Camry body from Todd. Some teams are breaking in new crews (Millican) and some are working out new chassis (Palmer -- the front-half, anyway). Everyone is shaking off the rust as we get ready for the slog that is the 24-race NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

This is gonna be fun.
