Kelly Clontz and crew chief and husband Chris will banner Steamfitters Local 602 as the primary sponsor on their Pro Stock Motorcycle as they head into their sophomore year of racing a full schedule in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. Steamfitters Local 602 was a supporting partner during the Clontz’s 2018 rookie debut and has decided to increase the level of involvement with Kelly Clontz Racing in 2019.

“I am very grateful for the continued opportunity to represent the entire Steamfitters Local 602 organization in a larger capacity,” she said. “The men and women who make up this union provide an invaluable service that Kelly Clontz Racing will look to parallel during the 2019 season.”

Kelly Clontz Racing is based in Hughesville, Md., where Chris has been an active member of the union for the past 23 years.

“The Members and Contractors of Local 602 provide the highest level of Commercial and Residential HVAC and Mechanical Services throughout the Washington Metropolitan area,” he said. “I am proud to call myself an affiliate and am humbled by the opportunity to represent such a great organization that has treated me well my entire career.”

With an expansion of 2019 Fox Sports broadcast coverage, an increase in fans from ages 18-34 over the last year, and the level of competition in the current pro stock motorcycle category, a partnership with Kelly Clontz Racing was advantageous for the local union.

“As an avid motorsport fan for over 50 years, I have often witnessed drivers gratefully and passionately thanking their sponsors,” Daniel Loveless, Business Manager of Steamfitters Local 602 said. “From our perspective, it is Steamfitters Local 602 that is both thankful and honored to be associated with Kelly and Chris Clontz NHRA Pro-Stock Motorcycle race team. We are proud to align our organization and sponsor a team that embodies our same Union values:  grit, determination and a commitment to being the best in an operation that takes a team to be successful.  We wish them both all the success in this next season and beyond.”

Kelly Clontz Racing will debut their Steamfitters Local 602 Pro Stock Motorcycle at the upcoming 50th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla., March 14-17, 2019. They will compete in the 16 national event series, contending for the 2019 NHRA Mello Yello Pro Stock Motorcycle championship.
