Randal Andras defeated now two-time world champion Tii Tharpe to score his first-ever Mickey Thompson Tires NHRA Top Fuel Harley Wally. He got off the line first and pulled away to win by a tenth of a second.
 
Rickey House grabbed three-hundredths on the starting line but that wasn’t enough to get past Tharpe in the semifinals. Tharpe earned his second Top Fuel Harley title with the win and kept House from reaching his eighth career final.
