Jeg Coughlin Jr.

Jeg Coughlin Jr. made the second-best run of the second session (6.659) and sits second in the Pro Stock qualifying order, just behind 2017 champion Bo Butner. Coughlin needs to make up .011 second in the final session at the Denso Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals to claim pole position.

Coughlin followed Butner and led teammate Matt Hartford, who made a 6.665-second passes in the penultimate Pro Stock session. Hartford improved by a hundredth to move up to third; he passed Elite Motorsports teammate Rodger Brogdon on speed and sits in front of teammate Erica Enders by .003 second.

Every Elite Motorsports Chevy is bunched from second to sixth and are separeted by .008 second between Coughlin and Alex Laughlin. That's a good place to be with one session to go, though Coughlin certainly boasts the power to steal the No. 1 spot from the most recent winner on tour -- that's Butner, for those that missed the 50th Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals.
