Chris Holbrook didn't run the second of three qualifying sessions of the SAMTech.edu Factory Stock Showdown competition at the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals in Topeka. That didn't rob him of his perch atop the qualifying sheet, though. Kevin Skinner came closest with an 8.081-second hit at 170.84 mph, but that's still nearly six-hundredths of a second away from toppling Holbrook's incredible 8.024.

The third (and final) qualifying session of Factory Stock is set for 11:30 a.m. Centrail Time Saturday. There will be plenty of drama on tap as the current category leader and most recent event winner, Drew Skillman, is not qualified. He sits No. 20 on the back of an 8.578. Robert Falcone holds the bump spot with an 8.216.
