Welcome to Day 3 of the 50th annual Amalie motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals and the final day of qualifying in the Mello Yello classes. Two sessions are scheduled today, at noon and 3:30 p.m.

With a 10-plus-degree drop in temperature over yesterday and more rubber on the track, the general consensus in the pits is to toss out all of Friday’s numbers and buckle up for some quick times today at Gainesville Raceway.

Friday provided a slew of headlines that will be hard to better, including the 3.76 of unexpected Top Fuel leader T.J. Zizzo and the sizzling, fastest-ever speed of 201.76 set by Pro Stock Motorcycle leader Matt Smith. Robert Hight (3.928) in Funny Car and Bo Butner (6.556) in Pro Stock both expect their numbers to be considerably bettered.

You can stay up to date by keeping it on NHRA.com all day for round-by-round recaps, features on your favorite drivers, and more. That’s not the only way you can stay in touch with NHRA during the event. If you’re coming out to Gainesville today, check out the full event schedule.
