Tickets for the tradition-rich NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway are on sale now for the event taking place May 4-6 in Commerce, Ga. as part of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.
The NHRA Southern Nationals will feature the 10,000-horsepower, nitro-fueled Top Fuel dragster and Funny Car classes, along with the 200-mph Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle categories.
The weekend’s festivities will also honor iconic figures of drag racing’s rich history as NHRA continues its Legends Tour, which takes place at events across the country. Many NHRA dignitaries will be in attendance to greet fans and take part in the weekend.
Last year Top Fuel driver Steve Torrence won for the second time at Atlanta Dragway when he defeated Tony Schumacher in the finals. For Torrence it was the third consecutive win and he went on to score a victory at the following event in Topeka to continue the hot streak.
In Funny Car, Ron Capps also won for the second time at the track, narrowly defeating Tim Wilkerson. Bo Butner won in Pro Stock and LE Tonglet captured the Wally in Pro Stock Motorcycle.
Fans in attendance will experience NHRA’s new Mello Yello Welcome Center offering information, schedules and guided tours. They can learn even more about the sport by attending a Nitro School session and tuning in to First Round follow up segments. Because Every Ticket’s A Pit Pass® at NHRA events, racing enthusiasts have the opportunity to meet their favorite professional drivers and get an up-close look at their powerful automobiles. On-track action will also feature the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, where the future stars of the sport hone their skills.
