WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Larry Mota, Orem, Utah, doubled up this weekend at the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Double Header at Rocky Mountain Raceways, winning both events in Sportsman Motorcycle and Clint Neff advanced to the final round in both events scoring the win in Sunday’s Comp Eliminator final.

Mota outran the field on Friday for the win then worked his way into the final again on Sunday to face off against Jason Clampitt, Lino Lakes, Minn. Clampitt was out first and looked to end Mota’s day but ran too quick and broke out to give Mota his second win of the weekend on his ’15 Kawasaki.

Neff, Arvada, Colo., was the runner up to Ralph Van Paepeghem on Friday then closed the deal on Sunday with a Comp Eliminator win over Don Bevers, Tucson, Ariz., Neff drove his ’32 roadster to a lap of 9.193 seconds, 101.97 mph after Bevers red lighted by just .001 seconds.

Last year’s champion Ryan McClanahan grabbed his 10th win and sixth in Super Stock in taking out Scott Burton of Golden, Colo. Kinard and Mitch Mustard were close at the start of the Super Comp final but Kinard was better at the stripe for the win. Cates made the trip from Canyon, Texas, to edge out Cameron Eddins in Super Gas and Herem, Canyon Country, Calif., got the holeshot and forced Gordon Boven to breakout in Super Street.

Doug Crumlich and Kacee Bootsma-Morris rounded out the winner’s list taking home the trophies in Top Sportsman and Top Dragster respectively. Crumlich, Irvine, Calif., turned a big starting line advantage into the win over Todd Young with Crumlich covering the quarter mile in 7.258 seconds at 177.44 mph. Bootsma-Morris, Olympia, Wash., parlayed a nice .021-second reaction time start into the win over John Richardson. Bootsma-Morris’ 7.347, 184.65 beat Richardson’s 6.461, 172.74.
