With more than 3,000 horsepower, the suspended door pro mod cars travel the quarter-mile in less than six seconds at speeds exceeding 250 mph.

“We have already seen a great start to the 2017 NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series season and I know the rest of the year will feature plenty of thrilling racing for fans to enjoy,” said Brad Gerber, NHRA vice president and chief development officer. “Real Pro Mod Association’s support is vital to the success and continued growth of the J&A Service Pro Mod Series.”

The RPM Association was created by Pro Mod team owners and drivers to preserve and promote the future of the category. Pro Mods are frequently touted as the fuel altereds of the 21st century. RPM is committed to securing sponsorship to the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series, providing input to NHRA on rule changes to achieve parity between the different power adder combinations, promoting diversity within the class to invite spectator interest and involvement, as well as maintaining the most exciting and competitive door to door racing on the planet.

“Our Pro Mod teams are excited to return to Royal Purple Raceway for the second race of the season,” said John Waldie, board member of the RPM Association. “The event has always been home to fantastic Pro Mod racing and we know that will continue this year. We have another full field of 29 Pro Mod cars that will treat fans to the thrilling side-by-side racing they’ve become accustomed to with the class.”

The 2017 NHRA J&A Service Pro Mod Drag Racing Series is showcased in a 12-race schedule that includes stops at several NHRA national events across the country. Steven Whiteley won the season-opening race in Gainesville, beating a loaded field that includes three-time and defending champion Rickie Smith, two-time world champ Troy Coughlin, Danny Rowe, Mike Castellana and Mike Janis.  Whiteley is also the defending event winner for the Houston race.  All 12 races during the 2017 season will air on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) and FOX Sports 2 (FS2).
