This is the best starting spot for Tony Stewart and the 5th time he has been in the top half of the field. Tony Schumacher is 8 - 9 in Rd. 1 when starting #13. This is the first time Stewart and Schumacher have faced each other in eliminations. Schumacher with the starting line advantage, but Stewart has the difference made up by the time they go by the 330 feet and never trailed for the win.

Coming into this race Steve Torrence has qualified #1 39 times and won the race 11 times. Ida Zetterstrom is the 21st woman to qualify for an NHRA race in TF Zetterstrom with the starting line advantage and the power to hold on for the hole shot win.
