John Force reached another milestone in his amazing career, locking down his 160th career No. 1 qualifying effort thanks to his Friday run of 3.834 and joined daughter Brittany as a low qualifier at the event.
Although Brittany Force and crew chief David Grubnic are known for their nighttime qualifying heroics, they showed in the heat of the day Saturday that they’re tough under fire, too, recording the best run of the day, 3.691, and held the No. 1 spot with their Friday 3.651 blast.
Matt Smith stayed atop the Pro Stock Motorcycle field after his dazzling 6.776, 200.22-mph Friday night blast, but a so-so Saturday in the heat put him behind the performance curve of Jerry Savoie, who ruled the day.
Everyone knew that Saturday’s hot and humid weather would slow the Pro Stock cars, which it did by an average of about a half-tenth from Friday’s nighttime session, but Jeg Coughlin Jr. showed that his JEGS.com team has a mastery of both.
