There are times when things simply do not go as planned, particularly when Mother Nature has her say. On Friday at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, that was certainly the case — but Leah Pruett and reigning Funny Car champion Ron Capps made it worth the wait as they made thunderous passes in front of the fans at Summit Motorsports Park to claim the provisional pole in their respective classes. 

The NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series reaches its ninth stop of 21 this weekend with the 17th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. The four-day event features all four Professional classes, as well as the race-within-a-race Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge. 

Bristol Dragway hosted a double-header weekend, and Justin Ashley came in like a freight train to scoop up every accolade on the table. Ron Capps and Erica Enders both claimed their first wins of the season, and Steve Johnson dethroned a king to cap a fruitful weekend in Thunder Valley.

After two raucous days of qualifying at Bristol Dragway, the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series competitors in all four professional classes are gearing up for a barnburner in the hills of Tennessee as raceday at the Thunder Valley Nationals dawns. Two drivers already have trophies in hand.

Bob Tasca III powered to his first win of the season and Top Fuel’s Justin Ashley also claimed victory on Saturday at the NHRA New England Nationals, which was completed as part of a doubleheader weekend in Bristol. The two also scored coveted Mission #2Fast2Tasty wins to end a prosperous day in Bristol.

Gaige Herrera continued his perfect run, Aaron Stanfield claimed his first Mission #2Fast2Tasty win, and Leah Pruett (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car) and Erica Enders (Pro Stock) all qualified No. 1 at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals.

Due to pending weather, NHRA officials announced a schedule change for Sunday’s eliminations of the 22nd annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.

The hills are alive with the sound of 11,000-horsepower nitro cars this weekend at Bristol Dragway, and on Saturday at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, those cars will be racing for New England Nationals trophies, Bristol qualifying positions, and Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA challenge glory.

It's already a Bristol to remember for four drivers at this weekend's Thunder Valley Nationals. Leah Pruett raced to the lead in Top Fuel Friday qualifying, and Robert Hight (Funny Car), Erica Enders (Pro Stock) and Gaige Herrera (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were No. 1. The first round of eliminations in Top Fuel and Funny Car from the postponed NHRA New England Nationals also took place on Friday in Bristol.

After just a few days off-track, the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series returns to Bristol Dragway for the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals. The event will have a unique format in that it will host both the seventh and eighth races on the tour – as well as the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge – providing the opportunity for three wins in one race for the nitro-fueled crowd.

With continuing precipitation in the forecast, Sunday's activities at the 10th annual NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway have been postponed until Monday.

Sunday was a complete wash-out at New England Dragway, but moving final eliminations for the NHRA New England Nationals to Monday did not defuse the enthusiasm of nitro drivers who remain battle-ready with eyes on the seventh NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series trophy of the season.

Brown earned his long-awaited 50th low qualifier award, and Green locked into the first of his career.

For eight drivers, qualifying will decide more than position — the fourth of 12 Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenges will be contested as well.
