Firebird Raceway welcomed the Treasure Valley DUI Task Force to its annual Halloween Classic for a special community outreach effort honoring longtime track official Joel Eggers while raising awareness about the dangers of impaired driving.

Eggers, Firebird's former chief starter and a member of the raceway family for nearly 30 years, was tragically killed by an impaired driver in 2016. He also served as a starting-line crew member at NHRA national events in Seattle.

During Saturday evening's trick-or-treat festivities, Task Force officers brought several law enforcement vehicles to the track, interacting with families and handing out treats and other items to children.

The visit provided an opportunity to connect with the community while sharing an important message about safe and responsible driving.

For the Treasure Valley DUI Task Force, preventing impaired driving goes beyond traffic enforcement. Community outreach efforts like this help families understand the consequences of impaired driving, remember lives lost, and encourage motorists to make responsible decisions before getting behind the wheel.

Firebird Raceway expressed its appreciation to the participating officers for their continued commitment to roadway safety and for helping keep Eggers' memory alive.

The meaningful collaboration served as a fitting tribute to a beloved member of the Firebird family and a reminder that the commitment to safety extends well beyond the dragstrip.
