60 years of success: NHRA's Contingency program pays racers to win!

For six decades, the NHRA Contingency program has proven that performance at the grassroots level is the most powerful marketing engine in motorsports. Since its inception in 1966, the program has connected racers and manufacturers in a results-driven partnership built on one simple truth: winning sells.

From local divisional events to national stages, parts are not just advertised — they are tested under pressure, validated in competition, and rewarded in victory lane.

The strength of the program lies in its authenticity. Real racers, real results, real payouts. For 60 years, that formula has fueled innovation, brand loyalty, and sustained growth across the performance industry, making NHRA’s grassroots partnership model one of the most enduring and successful marketing platforms in all of motorsports.

Partnership is what the NHRA Contingency program is all about, and in 2026, more than 100 manufacturers and retailers are looking to partner with you. They have put up more than $11 million in cash to reward you for buying their parts and running their company logos. Included in the payouts is:

  • More than $6.5 million in postings for racers at the 20 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series national events, with payouts from Top Fuel down through Super Street
  • More than $4.5 million available to racers at NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional events, stand-alone regional events, NHRA SPORTSnationals, the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment E.T. Finals, the Summit Racing Equipment World Championships in Las Vegas, JEGS Allstars in Texas, and class racing events across all seven NHRA divisions, plus the fabled Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals

Here’s How it Works

The NHRA Contingency program is the largest and most successful grassroots marketing partnership in motorsports. It connects racers who buy parts with manufacturers looking to sell and market performance products. It offers the advantages of a passion-driven business-to-consumer relationship, with the long-term benefits of a business-to-business partnership.

Every weekend from February to November, there are NHRA races across North America drawing hundreds of racers and cars together. The NHRA has deep roots in reaching these markets and racers and uses the Contingency program to share its strengths with its partners. The NHRA Contingency program runs at all NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series national events, all NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series divisional and regional events, plus the NHRA Summit Racing Series and the JEGS Allstars. Partners can participate at the national level, the divisional level, the regional level — or all three.

  • Companies post (publicly announce) with NHRA that it pays racers who use their product and win or runner-up in an NHRA race class: $300 to win/$100 to runner-up at national events, and $100 to win/$50 to runner-up at divisional events. Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Mod pay $500 to win/$100 to runner-up.
  • Racers buy and install the products that are posted. Racers install decals on both sides of their race car that display the products they are running.
  • When racers win or runner-up, the NHRA Tech Department verifies the decals and products were present.
  • After every race, the NHRA alerts participating manufacturers with a list of the racers who’ve won or runner-upped with their product.
  • Participating manufacturers send payment to the racers to reward them for their success and partnership. NHRA and national media show racers with decals and products winning on TV, online, through social media, and in magazines.
  • Racers and fans see firsthand what products work and win.
