The May 2024 issue of NHRA National Dragster, packed with racing coverage from coast to coast and in-depth feature stories, is now online in digital format and in the mail in its traditional print format to NHRA Members around the world.

There’s a ton of racing coverage throughout the issue, starting with the weather-delayed conclusion of the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals through the recent Laris Motorsports Insurance NHRA Cajun SPORTSnationals, with a double helping of wild four-wide racing in Las Vegas and Charlotte in between.

The Las Vegas event marked the debut of the Holley EFI NHRA Factory X class, and we take a deep dive into the cars and technology that made up that historic moment. We’ve also got an introspective interview with NHRA’s chief medical officer, Dr. Phil Surface, who explains his role and his vision in the sport, and a colorful portrait of “the Flying Airbrush,” Super Comp racer and helmet/racecar painter Jerron Settles, to round out our primary features.

On the newsier side, we recap NHRA’s involvement in the National Motorsports Coalition’s trip to Washington, D.C., for the Congressional Motorsports Caucus and take a look at how Gaige Herrera’s seven-race winning streak in Pro Stock Motorcycle stacks up against other great historical winning streaks. We also check in with Top Fuel rookie Tony Stewart on his season to date in this issue’s “5 Minutes With” interview.

Our columnists cover a wide range of topics, with ND Editor Phil Burgess reporting on the growth of No Problem Raceway and the return there of the aforementioned Cajun SPORTSnationals, and two-time world champ Luke Bogacki’s “Science of Winning” talks about the importance of cultivating both an improved skill set and mindset, and Joe Castello gets into cheerleading mode. Senior Editor Kevin McKenna tips his hat to the Webber family for their incredible three-member winning streak that made them our Sportsman Racers of the Month, and our Be A Member, Be A Winner scorecard is also highlighted by a recounting of last year’s grand-prize winner Rich Rush’s trip to the Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School.

Our monthly Racing Technology column discusses the use of data analytics and other tactics and practices to help elevate your performance on the track.
