NHRA will unveil a new fan-friendly version of the famed Christmas Tree starting system at the upcoming Lucas Oil NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway.

Developed in partnership with Bob Brockmeyer at Compulink, the new state-of-the-art Christmas Tree has several new elements to enhance the spectator's experience while providing competitors the same experience expected during competition.

The most obvious new feature is side-mounted LED lights that will allow fans to not only watch the staging process through the illumination of blue LEDs, but also large, rectangular bulbs that will also display the amber, green, and red sequence bulbs. These side-mounted lights can independently tilt to adjust for tracks such as Bandimere Speedway, home of the Dodge//SRT Mile-High Nationals presented by Pennzoil, which has an elevated grandstand on the left side and lower grandstands on the right.
