Wilkins, Arrowsmith, Longhany will lead Gatornationals Sportsman fields into Friday

Although a major portion of the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals has been postponed, racing got under Thursday in seven Sportsman classes with qualifying and time trials. Reigning Top Sportsman presented by Vortech Superchargers world champ Sandy Wilkins is among the leaders.

Although a major portion of the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals has been postponed, racing got under Thursday in seven Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series classes with qualifying and time trials. Reigning Top Sportsman presented by Vortech Superchargers world champ Sandy Wilkins is among the leaders.

Joseph Arrowsmith and his Ham Lake, Minn.-based Arrow Express G/AA '06 Pontiac is the No. 1 qualifier in Comp after he powered to a (-.742) 8.098 performance.

Jeff Longhany leads the field in Super Stock in his Victory Lane Golf Carts SS/KA ‘74 Plymouth after a blast of 10.112 that is 1.138 seconds under the index.

Jeff Adkinson’s Jeff Taylor Performance C/S '69 Camaro is the leader in Stock after a blistering run of 9.441, which is 1.909 seconds under the index.

Freddy Perkins’ JNE Construction Solutions machine is the No. 1 qualifier in Top Dragster with a pass of 6.095 while Wilkins’ Camaro is atop the pack in Top Sportsman after a run of 6.436.

Final eliminations are scheduled to begin Friday and run to completion. Round 1 of Stock will kick off the action at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. Fans can watch the action for free (and also watch all of Thursday’s qualifying) on NHRA.tv. (Non-subscribers will have to create a temporary account)
