In a year that was heavily influenced by powers and forces outside of the realm of NHRA Camping World Drag Racing, Ron Capps and Ryan Oehler were both outside influencers from within the sport. 

Both men had strong seasons with wins and final-round appearances and both men made noise and had some sway on who became champions in both Funny Car and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
