Richmond Funny Car results: Q3

The hot weather and hot track affected the Funny Cars as much as it did their longer-wheelbase Top Fuel brethren, as none of the floppers could run in the threes, with Tommy Johnson Jr.’s 4.029 being the best of the pack.

The hot weather and hot track affected the Funny Cars as much as it did their longer-wheelbase Top Fuel brethren, as none of the floppers could run in the threes, with Tommy Johnson Jr.’s 4.029 being the best of the pack.

Johnson, whose Friday 3.922 still has him No. 2, entered the favorite’s realm with another solid pass in the heat while low qualifier John Force didn’t make it to the finish-line stripe under power.

World champ J.R. Todd (4.035), Matt Hagan (4.045), Bob Tasca III (4.054), and Jonnie Lindberg (4.057) all made good passes with what the track had to offer, which should set them up well for a hot Sunday raceday.
