Jonnie Lindberg and car owner Jim Head have come alive at the Virginia NHRA Nationals, winning their first two rounds of the season and reaching the semifinals by defeating low qualifier John Force, who smoked the tires at the hit. Lindberg will take on J.R. Todd in the semifinals after Todd beat his Kalitta teammate Shawn Langdon with low e.t. of the round, 4.04.

Ron Capps and Robert Hight also both went into synchronized smoke but three or four throttle pedals later, Capps took the win light. It was the same story a pair later for Tommy Johnson Jr., who outdueled similarly tractionless teammate Jack Beckman to advance.

You can find a complete recap of round two here.

Semifinal pairings (lane choice first):  J.R. Todd vs. Jonnie Lindberg; Tommy Johnson Jr. vs. Ron Capps
