Jack Beckman will have the chance to win his fourth Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals Funny Car title when he squares off with Bristol champ Bob Tasca III in the final round.

The race will be a rematch of their final round here in 2009, which went to Beckman, but “Fast Jack” and the Infinite Hero team will have to stop the class’ suddenly hottest racer in Tasca and the Motorcraft Ford.

Beckman won a pedalfest with his Don Schumacher Racing teammate, Tommy Johnson, to advance to the final round, the 59thof his career, and his third this season. Johnson’s Make-A-Wish Dodge smoked the tires early and Beckman’s purple Dodge later. Both recovered and put the pedal down again but by then Beckman was too far ahead.

Beckman is looking for his first win of the season, his first in Norwalk since 2017, and his first overall since last year’s Brainerd event, where he also beat Johnson.

Tasca reached the final round, the 14th of his Funny Car career, by defeating John Force in a rematch of last weekend’s final round in Bristol. Both cars made a solid pass, but Tasca’s Eric Lane- and Jon Schaffer-tuned Mustang delivered a solid 3.98 to Force’s 4.05 in the Peak Chevy. The loss ended Force’s ongoing quest for his milestone 150th win.
