Blake Alexander has been in the top half of the field at 11 of his 15 races this year. This (#13) is the lowest starting spot for Bob Tasca in his last 33 races. Tasca III is 16 - 5 against Alexander in prior events. A coin flip off of the line, Alexander starts pulling away. The rear of Tasca's car started moving around, he was able to stay on the throttle, but Alexander extended his lead all the way through the run. The last time the #1 FC qualifier lost in Rd. 1 at this event was 1995. This is Terry Haddock’s 6th start this year. This is the first time Prock and Haddock have faced each other in eliminations. Prock gets out of the gate first but starts rattling the tires. He gets about 300 feet out and the chutes deploy. Haddock goes around Prock about 600 feet out but then he loses power and the car noses over. Prock stays on the throttle and goes around Haddock about 900 feet out. Austin Prock's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(0.085), 330 ft(0.025), 660ft(-0.118). MOV: 0.0840 seconds (approximately 25 feet).

Matt Hagan is 251 – 98 (71.9%) in his career in Rd. 1 and 12 – 5 (70.5%) this year. Bobby Bode is making his 37th start overall and his 9th this year. Hagan is 2 - 0 against Bode in prior events. Hagan gets the holeshot but Bode starts making up ground quickly. Bode gets closer, almost pulling even at the 660 foot mark, then hagan is able to pull away and take the holeshot win. Beckman had medical problems this morning, diagnosed with a vertigo like condition and he was advised not to drive today. Green gets the single here and he goes down the groove with a clean, straight pass to move on to the next round.

Ron Capps is 12 – 5 in Rd. 1 this year. Dave Richards is making his 58th start. Capps is 4 - 1 against Richards in prior events. Richards does his burnout and cannot gets the car in reverse. The crew rushes out and pushes him back to the starting line. Capps gets out of the gate first and starts pulling away. Richards went up in smoke at the hit, the car making a violent move to the right, and he had to back off of the throttle. Capps went down the groove with a decent pass to take the win. Alexander will have lane choice over Capps in the next round.

Daniel Wilkerson is 9 – 8 in Rd. 1 this year. In her last 10 races Alexis DeJoria 3 – 7 in Rd. 1. Wilkerson is 2 - 0 against DeJoria in prior events. DeJoria does her burnout and the chutes deploy so she isn't able to make a pass. Wilkerson goes down the groove with another good pass in the win. Wilkerson will have lane choice over Green in the next round.

This is the 8th time this year Cruz Pedregon has been in the top half of the field. J.R. Todd is 10 – 2 against Pedregon in Rd. 1. and is 19 - 5 overall against Pedregon in prior events. They leave the line together but Todd starts pulling away. todd gets about 200 feet out, strikes the tires, then Pedregon is able to reel him in. Pedregon loses a cylinder late in the run but hangs on and takes the win. Cruz Pedregon's incremental margins (negative if behind): 60ft(-0.025), 330 ft(0.066), 660ft(0.402). MOV: 1.0440 seconds (more than 100 feet). Hagan will have lane choice over Pedregon in the next round.

Paul Lee’s 8 round wins this year are the most for him in a single season. Dale Creasy is making his 134th start. Lee is 2 - 0 against Creasy Jr. in prior events. Lee gets the advantage off of the line and starts pulling away. Creasy gets about 200 feet out, strikes the tires, then backs off of the throttle. lee gets about 900 feet out, loses traction, but hangs on for the win. Lee will have lane choice over Prock in the next round.
