| break out (v.), breakout (n.) | Occurs when competitor has run quicker than his dial-in time. |
| burndown | Occurs when two competitors purposely delay the staging process. |
| burn out (v.), burnout (n.) | Spinning the tires prior to the start of a drag race to increase tire temperature and improve traction. |
| bye | When a racer has no competition due to short field or a no-show. |
