The Circle K NHRA Winternationals has produced a combined 85 different winners in Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock through the years, and 31 of those drivers have won more than once. But which drivers have the most victories at the season opener?
Vern Moats, one of the longest-tenured Top Alcohol Funny Car driver before his retirement in 2012, died Jan. 15. Moats accumulated a remarkable tally of 15 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 5 championships, 16 top 10 finishes, 16 national event wins from 1983 to 2000, 14 JEGS Allstars special event appearances, and 56 LODRS event wins.

It takes a lot of parts to keep Don Schumacher Racing’s fleet of Top Fuelers and Funny Cars running down the track, and thanks to a $7 million investment, the team can make many of those parts in house at their Brownsburg, Ind., shop.
Television production veteran Kymberly Booth Higgs has been named NHRA show producer for the 2017 FOX Sports television broadcasts of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series and, J&A Service NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series.

The tradition-rich Circle K NHRA Winternationals, which will for the first time in its history feature Sunday’s eliminations live on the FOX national broadcast channel, kicks off the 24-race NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season Feb. 9-12, at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

NHRA Today: DeJoria amped for Winternationals return
Alexis DeJoria suffered her third concussion in four months when she slammed into the wall in Las Vegas in October, which ended her 2016 season early. The driver of the Tequila Patron Funny Car driver never doubted her 2017 return, and joined NHRA reporter Amanda Busick via Skype in the Wally Parks NHRA Studio to talk about her pre-season prep and the addition of champion crew chief Nicky Boninfante.
NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series points and qualifying procedures changed for upcoming season
The NHRA competition committee has announced changes to qualifying procedures at all NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series events, changes to the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Countdown to the Championship, and also announced an added point-and-a-half scale to the season ending Auto Club NHRA Finals at Pomona, Calif.
