Final determination of the 8th Funny Car spot and the 8th Top Fuel spot in the Traxxas Nitro Shootout:

The final determination of the 8th Funny Car spot and the 8th Top Fuel spot in the Traxxas Nitro Shootout will take place at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals Fanfest on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at noon ET at Monument Square in downtown Indianapolis.

All eligible drivers will receive a pre-determined number of ping pong balls based on the percentage of fan votes they received and will be placed into a “lotto-style” machine for a random draw. For example, if a driver receives 30% of the fan votes, that driver will receive 30 ping pong balls in the “lotto-style” machine. The ping pong ball randomly chosen by the machine determines the driver who will become the 8th participant in the Traxxas Nitro Shootout for both Funny Car and Top Fuel. This process will be completed once for each competition class.

All eligible drivers will be required to be present at the Fanfest to win a spot into the Traxxas Nitro Shootout. If an eligible driver does not attend the Fanfest, his or her ping pong balls will be removed from the “lotto-style” machine prior to the random draw. All remaining eligible drivers will keep the same number of ping pong balls that corresponded to the original fan vote percentage.

If any issues or disputes arise, final decisions will be made by NHRA in NHRA's sole and absolute discretion.
