Bruno Massel Jr., who claimed a record-breaking fourth career Comp eliminator world championship, was voted Sportsman Driver of the Year by NHRA fans.
Bruno Massel Jr., who drove to four wins in six final rounds this season to claim a record-breaking fourth career Comp eliminator world championship, was voted Sportsman Driver of the Year by NHRA fans. Massel broke the tie he held with class standouts Bill Maropulos, David Rampy, and Frank Aragona Jr.
Massel, well-known for his work as a pit reporter on the NHRA on Fox television shows and the host of Garage Squad and Truck U, now has 18 career NHRA national event victories.
Massel finished just ahead of Super Gas world champ Trevor Larson and Lauren Freer, who scored her first national event double this year. Stock world champ Kyle Rizzoli was a close fourth in the balloting.
