The dynamic duo of Alan Johnson and Brian Husen tuned Doug Kalitta to his long-awaited first NHRA Top Fuel championship and were named Pro Tuners of the Year by NHRA fans.
Kalitta and Husen wrenched Kalitta’s Mac Tools dragster to crucial Countdown to the Championship wins in Reading, Charlotte, and Pomona and also tuned Kalitta to a best of 3.642 in Dallas this season.
Aaron Brooks and Todd Okuhara, who almost guided Bob Tasca III to what would have been his first Funny Car world championship, finished second, just ahead of the Mark Ingersoll-led Elite Performance team, who tuned Erica Enders to a sixth Pro Stock world championship, and Andrew Hines, who quarterbacked Gaige Herrera’s incredible championship-winning season in Pro Stock Motorcycle.
