As hard as it is to believe, in 590 races and 1,315 rounds of racing this is the first "bye" run that Ron Capps has ever had. He is on a good looking pass and then right in the lights there is big cloud of smoke. The word from the top end is it is all clean.

Cruz Pedregon wins 73% of his round 1 races when he has lane choice. Pedregon and Lee have each won 2 times against the other in prior events. Tim Wilkerson is 3 - 7 in round 1 in his last 10 races. Jim Campbell is making his 107th start. Wilkerson with a slight starting line advantage, but is up in smoke. He pedals it and can't get it to hook up. Campbell is straight down the groove with his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. He will give up lane choice to Todd in the next round.

Alexis DeJoria is making her 173rd start and her 86th (49.7%) from the top half of the field. Bobby Bode's first was at this event in 2020. DeJoria is 1 - 0 against Bode in prior events. Bode with slight starting line advantage and never trailed for the win. He makes his quickest pass of the weekend for the win. He will give up lane choice to Pedregon in the next round. DeJoria starts to smoke the tires and the car is completely sideways, when it comes back around it slams into the wall. She is out of the car under her own power and is okay.

This is the first time Alexander and Green have faced each other in eliminations. Alexander with the starting line advantage and the lead until just past half track when he starts lose traction. Green drives around him and takes the win. Green is just a few ticks off his qualifying time. He will give up lane choice to Hight in the next round.

Overall Matt Hagan is 18 - 27 (40%) against John Force and he is 6 - 9 (40%) against him in round 1. For his career John has won 74% of his first round races Force with the starting line advantage, but Hagan has the lead by the time they go by the Christmas tree and never trailed from there on for the win.
