Tommy Johnson Jr. is on the bump spot at 5.401. They leave close to each other and Campbell was on a good pass until the engine starts to drop cylinders. Force's pass started well, but went bad as his engine drops one cylinder and then more going down the track. Near the finish line there is a huge engine explosion and almost the entire Camaro body, from the behind the front wheels, flies way into the air in one piece. Force gets the car stopped quickly and is out walking around OK. He gets into the field for now, but will definitely need some major effort before tomorrow's third session. Welch's engine makes a weird sound at the burnout and the engine goes quiet. The Monte Carlo gets pushed away.
