NHRA - National Hot Rod Association

Drivers competing in the FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by TypeA Motorsports will earn championship points at each of the 10 NHRA national events at which they compete. The points will be accumulated throughout the year, and an annual champion will be crowned in the series at the conclusion of the season.

Contestants will compete to secure a position in the Road to the Championship starting in Gainesville and concluding in Norwalk based on total points earned at each NHRA national event.

Additional points are awarded as follows:
10 points to all contestants (15 in Norwalk) — one qualifying attempt required.

Performance bonus points are awarded based on the average e.t. at the conclusion qualifying as follows: 

• Performance bonus points WILL NOT be awarded if there are no qualifying sessions available. 
• If any session is unable to be completed, all times recorded during that session will not count toward average qualifying ET.
• All E.T.s count towards the average qualifying ET when the vehicle crosses the finish line. 
• Stage without finishing the run equals 28 seconds for the qualifying session.
• Did not make a qualifying attempt the run equals 32 seconds for the qualifying session.
• Any disqualification, for example, failed fuel check, weight violation, centerline violation, etc. the run equals a 32-second for the qualifying session. 
• Your competitor’s centerline violation affects your ET (timing cone knocked out), the run equals a 0 ET and does not count toward the average 

Qualifying positions earn points as follows:

Qualifying points WILL NOT be awarded at events where the entire 16-car field is determined by points standings.

ROAD TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP

In the Prelude to the Championship season, contestants earn points to secure a position within the Road to the Championship.  Contestants can secure a position within the Road to the Championship under the following criteria:

1.    Earn enough points to secure a spot within the top 10 after the Norwalk event. 
2.    Events with three scheduled qualifying sessions competitors must run a minimum of 2 qualifying sessions at each event.
3.    Events with four and five scheduled qualifying sessions competitors must run a minimum of 3 qualifying sessions at each event.

• If unable to complete one qualifying session in its entirety within the originally scheduled event date(s), the event will count towards the number of events listed above for each category.  A completed tech card must be submitted to NHRA to count the event towards the total number of events listed above.
• If unable to complete two qualifying sessions within the originally scheduled event date(s), a participant must make one valid qualifying attempt or submit a completed tech card to NHRA for the event to count towards the total number of events listed above.
• If unable to complete three qualifying sessions within the originally scheduled event date(s), participants must make two valid two qualifying attempts for the event to count towards the total number of events listed above.
• If unable to initiate/start any qualifying sessions within the originally scheduled event date(s), the event will not count towards the number of events listed above for each category. For example, the first qualifying session occurs on Monday following the event.

The contestants who have secured a position in the Road to the Championship will have their FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by TypeA Motorsports points adjusted after the Norwalk event.  First and second place will be separated by 20 points while each position second through tenth place will be separated by 5 points. 

Contestants who have secured a spot in the Road to the Championship outside the Top 10 will have their points adjusted, for example, 11th place will be 735, and 12th place will be 730.  5 points will separate each position for each racer securing a spot in the Countdown to the Championship.

During the Road to the Championship, contestants will compete for the FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by TypeA Motorsports world championship title starting in Brainerd and concluding at Las Vegas (Fall).
